proxy settings in KDE

Post by eklavya » Thu Dec 09, 2010 16:39

Hi, I am using Sabayon 5.4, KDE 4.5.4 amd64. I have tried the following:
editing /etc/profile.env to export http_proxy variable.
using the kproxyswitcher script.
editing bashrc to export http_proxy variable.

Unlike other KDE distributions there is no proxy settings tab in system settings > network settings. I have tried to find a package for this utility but didn't find any.
After editing profile.env, chromium reads the settings fine (without exporting variables again). But none of the KDE applications read the settings. Please help.

I am using KDE 4.5.3 amd64 and there is a Proxy option in KDE System Settings > Network Settings. I suggest you file a bug report (see the link 'Bugs' at the top of this page).
