^You'll be lucky. If GNOME developers are anything like KDE developers, you'll be dragged screaming and kicking into a completely alien way of doing things, with no Return or Abort signs in sight. Still, it does come good in the end; you just have to suffer for two or three years until it does.

KDE only. I like it so mush. You have so many choices about customization .

I have both in parallel and when I'm bored of one I switch to another.

I voted for GNOME because I'm using it right now and it was installed by default. The KDE is better-looking but GNOME eats less resources it is more significant to me since in my work I use very consuming applications.

I never seemed to be attracted by Gnome. I can understand it's less bulky and more efficient and more stable. I cannot use Linux boxes at work, only on my home computers. So my first and only was KDE. Every now and then I try to launch a live CD with Gnome, and my answer is still - I prefer KDE, although recent overhaul to the latest was a bit painful and filled with bugs. Sabayon is of course doing the best job allowing us to updated it with a touch of a button with Sulfur - ever so magnificent :D

i don't consider the default KDE themes of being good-looking. There's Aurora for the window decorations, which is nice, but, apart from the amazing QtCurve, there's only few okay-looking retro-themes for the widgets style. i don't want to be rude, so, i will not say anything about the "Oxygen" style.

And there's some beautiful themes available for Gnome.

Kde strikes me as being too Vista like. I prefer gnome.

I start using linux in my desktop the day KDE 4.2.2 was packed in several distros since i was very impressed with the features, and i'm a really KDE fan, it is totally customizable and cutting-edge.

The only thing i dislike is the lack of integration of some apps.

I normally like the lighter desktop environments ... not because, I need them lighter -- but, because I love the simple and configurable 'right-click' menu.

For a full-featured Desktop Environment, I use Gnome . . . never could get a firm grasp on KDE.
Perhaps, it has way too much 'eye-candy' -- simplicity is preferred.

I just want an Operating System or Window Manager to do what I ask, when I ask -- otherwise, stay out of my way.

KDE always as gnome and simpler DE/Window Managers bore the pants off of me :) I just can't see SL or oSuse without KDE ....but that's just me

KDE for me, but the kickoff menu is brutal. The classic menu rocks.
