Problem when resizing windows

Postby ditchmagnet » Thu Aug 21, 2008 16:08

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but when I grab a corner of a window and resize it, it does do anything for about 3 seconds, and then it pops to where i wanted it. Not a major thing, but kind of a bother.

Is this with or without compiz running?

I know how you feel. :D

Best solution i could find so far is open Compiz Settings Manager, search for the resize plugin and if I'm correct the resize mode is set to normal.

Try some other mode. See how that acts for you.

I have the same problem and used the same fix. I'm also on ATI so maybe it is ATI related. I will check it on nvidia when I get home...

Well I'll be damned. I'd just learned to live with this. I changed 'Resize Window' to 'Stretch' and resizing of windows in Compiz-Fusion is now super-responsive. Thanks.

Yea I've done quite a bit of research on the resizing and other issues with NVidia, some of which may apply to ATI. It has a lot to do with how redraws in emerald themes are handled in X (non-accelerated) and how that interacts with the drivers. Stretch seems to work like a charm in the meantime.
