Getting new themes

Postby Dirtrunner » Fri Aug 08, 2008 21:24

Well i guess I have no luck what so ever. One of the things i know for sure how to do is get new themes and use them. However, when i go to use the theme, (restart KDE) it says cannot parse theme. Whats going on?

sorry, i was trying to be general, but i guess thats more trouble then its worth. I downloaded a theme from KDE - Look the other day and everything went great, i unpacked everything to were its supposed to go, i even followed the HOW TO just to be sure:
* Download and unzip the theme archive.
* Put the theme folder in /usr/kde/VERSION/share/apps/kdm/themes
* Edit /usr/kde/VERSION/share/config/kdm/kdmrc
* Change or add the line
* Theme=/usr/kde/VERSION/share/apps/kdm/themes/
* Make sure to have UseTheme=true
* Restart KDE
* Have fun! :-)

Did everything, then restarted and got the error message "Could not parse theme". This can't be a hardware problem. This never happened to me before, it maybe a fluke, but i tried several times.

I was installing Azenis Theme.

sounds like the theme was corrupt or something. I always use the KDE control center when installing new themes instead of manually editing files.

I made a mistake, only part of what im doing is installing a KDM theme... Im trying to install something alot bigger then that. KDE-Look discribes it as a Theme/Style. This is what im trying to do:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.ph ... tent=77150
Again forgive me if im seeming totally ignorant (in a way i am) but i can seem to make the puzzle fit. Im not asking for someone to hold my hand, i just want someone to tell me what im trying to install, once i get that, i can figure it out.
Again, apologies for being ignorant, but the only way to learn is to ask questions. Yes i have searched the web, and the how tos on KDE-Look are dont seem to help.

The Azenis package is all sorts of weird. It had a pdf included once you extract the file that tells you how to install it (although you'll need to replace installing packages with apt-get to using entropy or portage).
