Xorg.conf and change the keyboard layoute

Postby davidvsgoliath » Mon Mar 31, 2008 14:26

Hi. I installed the "server" verision of sabayon and now I installed Xorg. I ran xorgcfg and selected swedish keboard, checked the /etc/X11/xorg.conf and it says keyboard layoute "se" when I start X as a user, it is still us keyboard.

The system language "tty" terminals etc. has swedish keymapping but why can't I change in Xorg?

Not sure but is the langua in /etc/make.conf not going to affect this as well ?
If you had kde then setting it inside kde control panels works as well.

Best is to check out the gentoo wiki about how to do the languages.

You might be able to edit grub.conf and set the language prefs in there using a cheat code ?
Or you might have had to install using the keymap think it is F3 during boot of live cd /dvd and then select SE then everything from there on should be default SE .
No clue about this.

Someone that know will post.

The system language is also set to se, I just tried the live DVD and found that if I boot with swedish, I can use swedish keyboard in the tty's, KDE and gnome but not in fluxbox. Sabayon Linux x86 3.5 can't change the keyboard layout in xorg.conf.

Why?

I have used Gentoo, Slackware, LFS and OpenBSD for 8 years and I have never seen this problem and what I can tell, its not a xorg problem because my other system works...
