Hey guys. Glad to see some of you got those drivers to work, as I haven't stopped regretting buying ATi since my first day with it.
I use the X1250 IGP that came on an M2A-VM HDMI MoBo
With the 8.40.4 that shipped with sabayon:
XGL is not usable for games (Sauerbraten runs@12+ FPS, Nexuiz same during stress). Compiz works though, and OpenGL is somewhat usable. AMD CCC is broken (not a big deal). This is as far as I got, using the 8.40.4 Drivers with sabayon or installing the RPMs myself on opensuse.
I managed to get acceleration with the 8.42.2, but not compiz, under suse and sabayon.
My last attempt was with the 8.455.2. got latest sabayon-source, recompiled the kernel and rebuilt the modules as viewtopic.php?f=53&t=12438&p=71044&hilit=ati+aiglx#p71044
suggests. This resulted in XGL again (?!?!) and working compiz but no DRI, so OpenGL is out of the question and no AIGLX.
Has anyone managed, or got any idea, how to get DRI and AIGLX working with compiz using anything after 8.40.4 on the x1250?
What are those of you who don't have DRI doing? Does running Accel-Manager between session to disable XGL allowes you to have OpenGL on unaccelerated sessions with the new drivers???
Shouldn't we all just go to the ATi HQ and lynch them???
