New compiz-9999.ebuild from 23/01/08

Postby dave_p_b » Sun Jan 27, 2008 11:35

Hello.

Many of you have probably notice that, as of late, compiz-9999.ebuild has been failing to build. This is because they have introduced the ability to compile for KDE4.0. Therefor, the current compiz-9999.ebuild has to be updated to include a KDE4 USE flag. I have attached the new compiz-9999.ebuild I got from the Gentoo forums here.
Download the attached file, unzip it and copy the compiz-9999.ebuild file to /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon/x11-wm/compiz.
Open up a root konsole and change directory (cd /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon/x11-wm/compiz).
Type ebuild compiz-9999.ebuild digest.

Remember to make sure that the KDE4 use flag is not enabled unless you are compiling for KDE4.0.
(e.g. USE="-kde4" emerge =compiz-9999)

All the best

Dave

So can anyone verify that Compiz-fusion works with kde4.0? Or is the compiz team still working on a recode for kde4? If it is I may move to ke4 fulltime to get rid of the keyboard problems people are having with the recent world update (viewtopic.php?f=75&t=12457)

Hi Chickpea

I assume it is. If you compile compiz with the kde4 USE flag. Your best bet is to look on the compiz fusion forums, http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/.

All the best

Dave

p.s. Let us know how compiling it for KDE4 goes.

Here's my answer: YES!

Although with all the usual kde4 vs kde4.0 caveats (kdepim, plasma, blah blah blah).
