can not reattach usb gprs modem without reboot

Post by ceremcem » Thu May 15, 2014 22:32

Hi,

When I attach my USB GPRS (3G) modem to computer, lsusb shows some:thing_1 attached. I run

Code: Select all

usb_modeswitch -c appropriate_file

Then lsusb shows some:thing_2 attached and an eth1 device is created. I can connect to internet via that device. All is OK till here.

When I detach usb, lsusb still shows some:thing_2. I can not run usb_modeswitch again because it expects some:thing_1.

There is also another thing interesting:

Code: Select all

dmesg|tail
[42381.908067] unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth1 to become free. Usage count = 1

reboot solves this problem and brings me to the beginning of this post.

How can I trace the problem?
