4G Systems XS Stick P14 (UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA) [Solved]

Post by hendrack » Sun Dec 15, 2013 0:00

Hi, I fail to get this stick working, I successfully changed the stick from mass storage to modem mode according to the usb IDs I got from http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/USB_ModeSwitch: 1c9e:f000 stick as mass storage, 1c9e:9605 stick as modem.

lsusb confirms:

Code: Select all

Bus 007 Device 003: ID 1c9e:9605 OMEGA TECHNOLOGY
Then I load usbserial:

Code: Select all

modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1c9e product=0x9605
Instead of some output like this:

Code: Select all

an 21 17:23:55 CyberBlade kernel: [   16.881655] usb 2-2: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB0
Jan 21 17:23:55 CyberBlade kernel: [   16.881718] usb 2-2: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB1
I get:

Code: Select all

874.370896] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for generic

That seems fine according to this instruction, but the stick doesn't show up in network manager and I could not connect with gnome-ppp.

Any help appreciated, thanks.
kernel is 3.12.2-sabayon.

All I needed was a correct wvdial.conf

Code: Select all

[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
#Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
ISDN = 0
New PPPD = yes
Baud = 92160
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB3

[Dialer bob]
Stupid Mode = 1
Init2 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","bob.at"
Phone = *99***1#
Username = [email protected]
Password = ppp

Moving this thread to the Networking & Wireless shed, as it's a better place for it.
