lenovo x100e, 8192se adapter [Solved]

Post by mfischer » Wed Feb 16, 2011 23:43

Hi,

This did not work out of the box so I went to get the driver from Realtek's site. Here is the output;

[email protected] ~/src/8192se wireless/rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0019.1207.2010 $ lsfirmware Makefile realtek rtllib wpa1.conf
HAL readme.txt release_note runwpa wpa_supplicant-0.6.9.tar.gz
[email protected] ~/src/8192se wireless/rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0019.1207.2010 $ sudo make
Password:
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.37-sabayon'
Makefile:314: /usr/src/linux-2.6.37-sabayon/scripts/Kbuild.include: No such file or directory
Makefile:546: /usr/src/linux-2.6.37-sabayon/arch/x86/Makefile: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: /usr/src/linux-2.6.37-sabayon/scripts/gcc-goto.sh: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux-2.6.37-sabayon/arch/x86/Makefile'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.37-sabayon'
make: *** [all] Error 2

What does this mean? What do I need to do? Thanks.

hi,

install net-wireless/rtl8192se-firmware and net-wireless/rtl8192se-2.6.0018.1013.2010#2.6.37-sabayon (if you use 2.6.37 kernel) from Entropy and see if it works. If not show us the output of lspci or lsusb if a usb device.

cu

iwconfig output;

[email protected] ~ $ sudo iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

At least the controller is recognized...

That's reassuring. Checking firmware....
