hping binary "without tcl scripting support" problem

Post by NotExcessive » Thu Jun 03, 2010 12:47

I've installed hping and gotten this message when I try to run it.

Editing make.conf to set the tcl USE flag, I've downloaded the source and unpacked it, but after running "configure" and make, the compile crashes after a short while.

Can anyone suggest a solution that will enable hping to run?

Code: Select all

 I've downloaded the source and unpacked it
Start to learn how portage works?
!!!at your own risk! you will break your system if you dunno how to use portage!!!

Code: Select all

emerge --sync && USE="tcl" emerge -av net-analyzer/hping
OR file a bug and request it to be repackaged.

If I use emerge, the system doesn't recognise the package:

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "net-analyzer/hping".

but equo does.

^There are certainly ebuilds for hping in Portage:

Code: Select all

meshedgedx / # eix hping
* net-analyzer/hping
     Available versions:  2.0.0_rc3-r1 (~)2.0.0_rc3-r2 (~)3_pre20051105-r1 (~)3_pre20051105-r2 {debug tcl}
     Homepage:            http://www.hping.org
     Description:         A ping-like TCP/IP packet assembler/analyzer
Did you do the following first?

Code: Select all

emerge --sync
layman -S
