If anyone has been having the same problem as I have, trying to share a directory with other PCs on a network using Samba, then have a look at Swerdna
's excellent How To on the following Web page: http://opensuse.swerdna.org/susesimpleshares.html
I used to be able to do this easily in KDE 3.5 on earlier releases of SL, but since KDE 4 was released I was never able to do it, even though my laptop could access Samba shares on other PCs. But now, thanks to Swerdna
, I'm able to do it again.
He tells you how to configure both GNOME and KDE, with lots of pictures to make it easier to understand. Swerdna
is an openSUSE user, but the steps are basically the same as for SL.
I created a directory ~/Public and used his How To to share it using Samba with the other PCs on my home network.
Hope it helps you as much as it helped me. Many thanks to Swerdna
