No Network After Recent Upgrades

Postby SathyaBhat » Sat Jan 31, 2009 6:50

Hi guys, I just upgraded to KDE 4.2 and that (I don't know how) seems to have broken up wireless totally, is it related to PolicyKit? as I noticed that policykit is installed alsong with KDE 4.2. Prior to this, on KDE 3.5.10 and KDE 4.1 wireless worked flawlessly, and after the update to KDE 4.2, I can't connect wirelessly, though I can connect using a LAN cable.
Any ideas ?

I'm using KDE 4.2, Sabayon 4 r1x86/64. I have a iwl3945,

my wireless also stopped working, may it be because of networkmanager 0.7.0?
I went through all conf updates and saw nothing that would remove my wireless

The package networkmanager-0.7.0 is masked in Portage, and does not work either on my laptop. I just downgraded to networkmanager-0.6.6-r1 and wired and wireless networking work fine again.

thank'you fitzcarraldo!
now with the old version i've no more problems!

but just one question (maybe just Fabio can answer)
Why you put on entropy networkmanager not masked while is still masked on portage? especially a 0.7.0.0 version!

Needed for KDE 4.2.0

Also its NOT masked in portage because it doesn`t function incorrect. Its masked because it needs policykit and policykit is masked due some vague reasons..

We tested this all before we put it in entropy and as per 1000+ people installed this update and you seem the only one to have a problem i think its a very local thing..

:D

P.S. next time post some logs so we have an idea about the problem.

I'm guessing its PolicyKit thing. I distinctly remember getting a PolicyKit error while launching Knetworkmanager from the terminal
