Linksys Wireless-N ExpressCard

Postby bonder5678 » Fri May 09, 2008 2:57

I've got a Linksys Wireless-N ExpressCard (model no. WEC600N) and a Compaq Presario V6000 laptop, the problem is that I can't get my system to recognize it as a network adapter. I've tried both the XP and the Vista drivers with ndiswrapper with the same results:

Code: Select all
 # ndiswrapper -l
lsbcmnds : driver installed
        device (14E4:4328) present

# iwconfig

If it makes a difference, this was the same behaviour I was seeing when I tried this in Ubuntu Hardy Heron.

I've tried everything I can think of; I'm running ndiswraper 1.52, Sabayon 3.4 with gnome, and I've been able to get a usb-wireless g adapter working through ndiswrapper on my machine.

Anyway, let me know if I need to provide more information to help diagnose/solve the problem, and thanks in advance for the help.

I think I may have figured out something here...

Code: Select all
# ndiswrapper -l
lsbcmnds : driver installed
        device (14E4:4328) present

# lspci -d 14E4:4328
01:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation Unknown device 4328 (rev 03)

After doing a little bit of digging around, it appears that the b34 driver doesn't currently support BCM 4328.

So, I can't use the b43 driver and I can't use b43-fwcutter to extract the firmware from the windows driver that came with the adapter.

Looks like I'm stuck for now.

Update:

I was able to get my ExpressCard adapter working with the help I found here.

Basically, I blacklisted bcm43xx, ssb, and b43 and I used the driver they suggested.
