Accessing HP Printer on Windows via Switch/Hub

Postby 2ny » Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:27

Hi, I have this HP PSC 2355 connected and shared between a couple of win boxes and I would like to know what basic tools I need to use to have this show up on my Linux's? In short - where do I start? Some Wiki somewhere?

I have not needed to do this under SL but did configure Ubuntu once to access a printer connected to a network hub, so the following thread might be of some help:

BT Home Hub & USB Printer Sharing

If you've got the printer directly connected to one of the Windows PCs then the following may be of some help:

adding network printer

EDIT: BTW, this is how I configured my SL PC to share files and printers with the other PCs on my home network:

Thanks Fitzcarraldo, joost - this looks promising. Easter-time, and all, I didn't have time to study any of it yet (All those eggs, you know!(They come in bottles here)), but it certainly looks good!
