Belkin Wireless G F5D7000v7 RTL8185L Chipset 64 Bit Drivers

Postby tismealso » Sat Feb 23, 2008 23:13

This thread is a follow up to "ndiswrapper success story failure with iwconfig" since I think I hit a turning point.

To sumarise, I have the windows install disk for my belkin wifi (pci) card and I cannot use the 32 bit driver provided since I have a 64 bit kernel. On the disk is a directory for X64 (dunno what this is yet) but I can ndiswrapper -i the x64 driver. When I try modprobe ndiswrapper my machine locks.

I have taken the card out and I have a RTL chipset and there are a few sites offering drivers to match (for windows) but they all charge and look dubious.

Can someone provide / point me at a suitable place to obtain 64 bit drivers for this card. Does ndiswrapper support 64 bit windows drivers fully ? has anyone any experience of this ? gentoo forums suggest I am not the first but I would like to hear of some success with this, I dont want to revert to 32bit kernel just to get wifi although since that is my net connection I may have to.

any and all help appreciated.

no this is not your problem and this is a duplicate post, please do not post duplicates. I have posted your solution in your old post.

You should be able to use the 32bit win driver + ndiswrapper with any 32bit or 64bit kernel or 32bit / 64bit windows.
64bit driver should only work with 64bit kernel / 64bit windows.
Not sure if the 64bit driver is stable and depends on the ndiswrapper version you have.

See the ibiblio.org download link as it has ndiswrapper windows drivers in it that could help if you can not get / extract it from wifi manufacturers website .
