Wireless LAN Difficulty

Postby Priswell » Tue Jan 22, 2008 4:42

I'm having a hard time getting my wireless to work. I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4767 laptop, and I'm using Sabayon Professional 1.1. The wireless card is an Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5006EG 802.11 b/g

I've followed the instructions at:
http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php? ... yon_miniEd

using the atheros driver net5211.inf

and read through and tried to apply the thread at:

but after doing that, I still got 'no wireless extensions'

Please help.

Atheros =
install ndiswrapper + *.inf
then ndiswrapper -ma and mi depending on version of ndiswrapper you have installed. ndiswrapper --help for more info.
then unload old drivers that is not working in lsmod list by using modprobe -r something or rmmod something

Next load ndiswrapper with "modprobe ndiswrapper"

Run "net-setup" and see if it lists anything that might sound like a wifi card connection.
It would likely only load it as eth1 or something silly until you made it permanent during boot.

If it is the same wifi card as in the mac mini intel atheros then it should work out of the box since 3.4e /f about not sure about 3.5 beta , just right click knetworkmanager next to time top right of screen and select wifi network.

The web chat / irc chat top right of this page has very good clued up guy's that can help as well.
