Samba shares available on some devices only [Solved]

Postby msdobrescu » Sun Jun 11, 2017 20:08

Hello,

I have done an update that came today, one single package, for OpenSSH.
Since then, I can't access the Samba shares anymore on one of my devices, the others requesting the password each time and working.
The device in question is a WD TV HD Live, up to date.
It says it cannot access the computer at all.
I have reset it, but no change.

Is anybody in the same trouble?

Thank you.

Same thing for connecting remotely through OpenVPN client, on two machines.
It simply can't connect and no log message is provided.

I'm not sure, but if you don't have a line assigning 'ntlm auth' in /etc/samba/smb.conf, try adding:

Code: Select all
ntlm auth = yes

and restart the samba service (or, alternatively, reboot).

Apparently the default in <samba-4.5 was 'yes' and in >=net-fs/samba-4.5 the default is 'no'.
