I had the very same problem with the warning you see.

Warning: /dev/disk/by-uuid/5c....... does not exist.

So what I did was to change the startup commands in Grub:

linux /boot/sabayon overlayfs cdroot root=live:UUID=5c403dad00049b51 ........

Here i changed the UUID to the UUID of my the ID the USB stick had - on my pc I had the following device for the USB-Stick: /dev/disk/by-uuid/78B1-21E9

linux /boot/sabayon overlayfs cdroot root=live:UUID=78B1-21E9 ............

not sure if this is correct what I did, yet after this change the boot worked.

I've suspect that all these tools change the UUID

Code: Select all

dev/disk/by-uuid/78B1-21E9
Seems to be a FAT32 partition for root while the root fs shouldn't be.

I suggest the "dd" way or

RosaImageWriter tool: http://wiki.rosalab.ru/en/index.php/ROSA_ImageWriter
(QT libs required)

or

Code: Select all

 app-cdr/isoimagewriter
     Available versions: (5) 0.8
       {debug}
     Installed versions: 0.8(5)(12:28:03 22/09/2019)(-debug)
     Homepage: https://community.kde.org/ISOImageWriter
Description: Write hybrid ISO files onto a USB disk
