Sabayon 18.05 KDE

Post by bunjee » Fri Mar 22, 2019 1:21

I have wasted at least a dozen DVD's downloading this version.
Use K3b to copy the ISO and then "try" to install on my hard drive.
I don't even know where the "live cd" is anymore. Every time I get to
a point of the install I get a blinking cursor..................forever!
I can't figure this out so I am asking for some help or advice from
a user friendly computer guy or gal. I wonder if someone else is having the same problem.
Anyone?...........
Please advise.

Does your machine have USB ports? If it does, it would be better if you create a LiveUSB instead of a LiveDVD. That way you won't have to waste DVDs unnecessarily, as you can simply overwrite the USB drive with another LiveUSB image.

If you're having trouble with the Sabayon 18.05 KDE release, try downloading one of the daily ISOs and creating a LiveUSB from one of those. As the name suggests, the Daily ISOs are more up-to-date: http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayo ... iso/daily/

You're correct about the Daily ISO's.
I downloaded one to a DVD and boom!
Please send me a link to the Live USB download.
Thank You!

There is no 'Live USB download'. You use the same ISO to create a LiveUSB (a.k.a. 'LivePenDrive') instead of a LiveDVD, namely the ISO you downloaded to create a LiveDVD. Web search engines will show you many sites with explanations on how to create a LiveUSB from an ISO file. There are Windows, macOS and Linux utilities for creating LiveUSBs. See, for example, the following small selection of these:

Help for Windows users: How to create a Linux LiveCD, LiveDVD or LivePenDrive from an ISO file

HOWTO: Create a live USB drive with Rosa ImageWriter

UNetbootin

Rufus

balenaEtcher

LinuxLive USB Creator

LiveUSB Install – Live USB Creator

and so the list goes on.
