Installer Crash

Postby sdi » Mon Jul 31, 2017 14:22

good morning
I have been trying to install, my first effort.
I am using the Sabayon_Linux_16.11_amd64_MATE.iso on a USB.
The live session is satisfactory in every way.
With the installer when I get to the target drive selection it crashes. Same thing on 3 separate computers... using pretty much all available options from automatic to manual.
I have downloaded with a torrent several times...
Should I try a different ISO? thanks

Thanks, I am downloading now... direct downloads are very difficult (torrents are great)
I tried the "monthly build" about an hour ago "Sabayon_Linux_17.07_amd64_MATE.iso"
that one runs live but on that one the installer refuses to start...

latest monthly releases could be buggy.
Installer crash was fix a week ago.

there are no torrents for daily builds.

[edit] try Montly 17.08 releases. These builds should be fine

Thanks. I did try the link, but it gave me the same "Sabayon_Linux_17.07_amd64_MATE.iso"
I did try it, but I got the same result: Welcome screen "install" link seems dead, and the desktop icon makes the taskbar show "loading installer" for a few moments then nothing.

So, it is July 31, maybe the next Monthly build will work... I put it on my calendar to check again.

Question: Do all the versions use exact same installer? Maybe I could try one of the other spins and then install Mate...

thanks again, Peter

that installer works but crashes at the same point as described in my original post.
I saved the text from the crash report but it is too big for pastbin ... 800629 characters and too big for this forum

I am trying to install on my secondary drive, having one extended partition. Within that extended partition is about 35GB of free space and 8GB of swap.
