menu.lst broken [Solved]

Postby johnbro » Tue Mar 30, 2010 15:04

Hi all!!
been messing with other distros, thought I'd give 5.2 a go. Installed no probs, or so I thought!! However on booting, I get a grub loading message then another message flashes up, to quickly to read I'm afraid. Then goes to a screen with 5.2 5.2 recovery and windows. I'd set windows as default during install, but it boots 5.2 after 3 seconds. No problem i thought I'll just edit menu.lst however, when I found it its described as broken, any ideas to fix this?
If I'm quick enough I can boot into windows, but for the kids it may be a problem!!

I should have mentioned menu.lst is broken because grub.conf is missing

If you installed sabayon 5.2 it means you installed grub2.
This does not use menu.lst.

The file you might want to take a look at is /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Worked a treat, thanks!!!
Now about this message that flashes up, seems to be about going into "recovery" anyone know what that means? Sorry I can't be more specific, but it really does just flash up.
