Installation and filesystem errors

Hi,

I am currently getting filesystem errors when I boot up Sabayon, it eventually gets to the login screen but I am taking this as a sign that I must really update my system.

My question is this:

Will choosing the upgrade option on the installer fix these filesystem errors or would you recommend a clean install?

You need to boot a live disc and perform a:

(example where the broken FS is on /dev/sda3)

Code: Select all

fskc /dev/sda3

NO upgrading will NEVER fix such a thing, I advice to fix this asap.

I can get into my system after it fixes the system, can I do this whilst I'm in my system?

No it should not be mounted.

I'm sorry. I'm not too sure of what you're getting at. How should I do this whilst in live CD mode.

Open a terminal, become root and run the command.

I take it you know what partition you should check.

I do. I have my Sabayon on a separate hard drive, so the separate partitions are just the hard drives.
