Kernel Panic on 3.4F, post install.

Right, well..

I've installed Sabayon 3.4F (x86) on my desktop via the graphical installer. I installed everything available.

I'm getting a kernel panic on boot though, here's the error:

[ 100.179686] ibm_acpi: ec object not found
[ 103.328366] crc error
[ 102.330549] Kernel panic - not synching: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)

I've tried disabling ACPI support via Grub, but to no avail. I've searched these forums and I even believe to of found the solution posted here (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=9456&p=55531&hilit=ibm_acpi#p55531), except the post is written in spanish or something.

My hardware is as follows:

AMD Athlon64 3200+, socket 754
FoxConn Winfast K8S755A Motherboard
2GB DDR400
nVidia GeForce 6800XT
2 x SATA drives, dual-booting Windows and Sabayon (Sabayon resides on the second drive, and GRUB is installed into the MBR of the first, where Windows resides)

I had no problem booting the LiveCD or any other features as such. I can't get the installed system to work, though. I've been searching these forums for hours now, trying to decipher the spanish. Is there anyway you could reorganize these forums a little..? As it stands currently, they're a real mess to work with.

Thanks.

Hi,

[ 100.179686] ibm_acpi: ec object not found

This is not the reason for the kernel panic. I get this message every boot on my Notebook (Samsung X20).

But you have a "CRC ERROR"

[ 103.328366] crc error
[ 102.330549] Kernel panic - not synching: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)

It seems your installation sources are broken.
- Check your DVD/CD.
- Maybe your Hard Disk is dead. How old is it?
- Do you have installed on a LVM volume or native partition?
- How looks your partition (fdisk /dev/sda, then press p)
- Post your grub.conf (menu.lst)
- Maybe you don't have the SATA driver at boot time. Try to boot from LiveDVD/CD and mount your HD drives, especially the HD where your Sabayon installation is

agreed, that crc error sounds like a bad ISO/Burn to me.
