Installation with Win Xp and Ubuntu

Postby giacombum » Fri Sep 28, 2007 23:55

I've installed on my pc Win Xp, Ubuntu and now I want to install Sabayon in another partition. How can I set Grub? I don't want that Sabayon installer auto-configure Grub (because I think that Sabayon overwrite my existing Grub configuration and Ubunt doesn't boot!), I want to add a line to Grublist in which I set Sabayon boot... Did you understand my questions (my english is so bad!!!)?

To be able to give you an accurate grub entry, we'd need to know what /dev mapping your root filesystem for Sabayon is. Also we'd need to know whether you have a separate /boot partition or not, and if so, what /dev mapping that partition is.

I did it by making a copy of my /boot/grub/menu.lst (onto a USB stick) and, after installing Sabayon and allowing it to configure grub, then copying the relevant sections from the old menu.lst and pasting them into the new Sabayon one. In my case it was elive and dreamlinux rather than ubuntu but the process is the same.
