Sabayon burned to a usb stick doesn't boot

Post by chdslv » Fri Oct 18, 2019 15:57

Sabayon Gnome burned to a usb stick doesn't boot. Burned it through dd. Did this with 2 different usb sticks, one usb 2.0, the other usb 3.0.
Any help would be appreciated.

I waited until the light in the usb stick completely stopped, and few more minutes. It writes to the usb stick to a file system udf, which I had never seen before.
sudo umount /dev/sdb
sudo dd if=/path/to/sabayon.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=1M && sync

It looks like most of the people, who tries to run the live iso has this problem. The UUID of the USB doesn't change, and stays always the same for every USB stick -- UUID=5c403dad00049b51
menuentry "Start Sabayon 20191006 GNOME" {
set gfxpayload=keep
echo "Language: ${bootlang}"
echo "Keyboard: ${bootkeymap}"
echo "Please wait..."
linux /boot/sabayon overlayfs root=live:UUID=5c403dad00049b51 rootfstype=auto rd.live.overlay.overlayfs cdroot splash quiet rd.live.image rd.vconsole.keymap=${bootkeymap} vconsole.keymap=${bootkeymap} locale=${bootlang} ${modeset_opt} ${acpi_opt} --
initrd /boot/sabayon.igz
}
Doesn't matter, which Sabayon iso, I download, it is the same. It could be the UUID of the partition of the developer's computer.
Can the devs do something about this?

Which isos did you try? I also can't boot sabayon from my usb stick.

According to user Zar Marco in his post Creare chiavetta per sabayon [Risolto]:
Zar Marco wrote:If I try to create it with rufus or with unetbootin, it starts but doesn't load it correctly, it goes to the dracut shell.

How do you make the pen drives?

Edit

It was fine created with rufus, in the end I had to go into advanced settings and click on disable ahci mode and inserted into the entry xdriver = i915 modprobe.blacklist = nvidia
The i915 driver is for Intel graphics hardware, so replace it with the appropriate parameter for your graphics hardware (see Boot parameters and workarounds for problematic Hardware in the Wiki for examples).
