Sabayon Gnome 16.11 UEFI

Postby conromia » Mon Aug 28, 2017 0:36

Ive tried installing Sabayon Gnome 16.11 and 17 versions in UEFI mode.
Secure boot disabled and 1 SSD.
While the installer goes all the way through without a issue using all defaults.
When it reboots my computer doesn't find the EFI entry.
Older versions of Sabayon work fine.
Other distros are working fine too.
I can load it using super grub disk.
I can confirm the efi files are in the EFI partition FAT32/16.
Is this a issue with my motherboard? or the latest installer?

Thanks :)

Is the disk artition table GPT?
Is the first partition filesystem FAT and flag set to boot/esp?

As I am having the same issue and there is no resolution posted I'm going to add to this one instead of starting a new one.
Only exception is I'm installing KDE not Gnome.

Here is my disk layout:
Code: Select all
GNU Parted 3.2
Using /dev/nvme1n1
Welcome to GNU Parted! Type 'help' to view a list of commands.
(parted) p
Model: Unknown (unknown)
Disk /dev/nvme1n1: 250GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
Disk Flags:

Number  Start   End    Size   File system  Name                  Flags
 1      1049kB  211MB  210MB  fat32        EFI System Partition  boot, esp
 2      211MB   735MB  524MB  ext4
 3      735MB   250GB  249GB                                     lvm

/root and /home reside on the lvm partition. I can supply you with anything you need to help me.

As the OP I get through the entire setup but once rebooted I cannot boot Sabayon.
I boot a usb stick that boots uefi without issues.

Any and all help to get this going is most appreciated.

OK, I had to move /boot/EFI/Boot/grubx64.efi to /boot/EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi now the system boot but into CLI I still have to start X from the command line as it doesn't auto start.

Anyone know where to look to fix this issue?
