Today Spritz has an update and I saw some parts in english... I guess Spritz uses the es.po instead of es_Es.po if the system is set to Spain...
I've updated the spanish translation and renamed to es.po

I am trying to test my translation, but I am having a problem. I made the .mo file, placed it in /usr/share/locale/bg/LC_MESSAGES/, checked it permissions, and changed the KDE language settings so that BG is first in the list, but the language in Spritz does not seem to change. What am I doing wrong?

Hi node_one,

to check a translation you don't have to change the KDE language settings. Once you have the bg.mo file, you have to rename it as spritz.mo, copy it in /usr/share/locale/bg/LC_MESSAGES/ and restart spritz. Then all should be in Bulgarian. I think your problem was the file name... it must be spritz.mo to try it.

If you have any troubles tell us or send us the file and we'll check if there's something wrong with it.

CatalanUser,

I did "equery files spritz" and I saw that all files had to be spritz.mo. So I did that. I had to change the KDE language settings since it is normally set to EN all the time. After I did that, most of KDE switched correctly, but spritz was still just in English. I will try a couple of other languages and see it it switches to them. I also did not install a complete Sabayon for testing, I just did KDE. Could I be missing something?

node_one,

I thought you had the system already installed in Bulgarian...

When a program with NLS (Native Language Suport) starts, it looks if there's a .mo fila at /usr/share/locale/'languagecode'/LC_MESSAGES ('languagecode' is the code for the locale on the system). If the file exists, it uses this locale. When not, it launches the program in the original language (EN in that case).

So, if your locale is set to EN, you have to copy the file spritz.mo in /usr/share/locale/en/LC_MESSAGES and when you start spritz you should get it finaly translated.

Let's see if it helps...

Success!!! Placing spritz.mo in .../en/... worked.

So I guess NLS works differently from whatever KDE sets. I am not at all familiar with locales, internationalization, NLS, etc. Normally I just do everything in English. Well, now that I can see where things go, I should be able to do a better translation of some of the items. I have already found things that need to be changed.

I saw in the svn log that lxnay is adding i18n support to Entropy.
Spanish translation of Entropy is done and Spritz one is updated. :D
