Wow + wine = really bad sound

Post by linux4life » Sun Dec 28, 2014 5:15

Hey ya'll just installed and updated my install. loving it so far except I try to fire up wow to do some raiding. and as soon as I hit the logon screen I get this terrible scratchy noise and a very corrupt intro music. graphics look ok but the noise is killer. any thoughts on the matter I installed wine from Rigo

Code: Select all

wine-1.7.29 (Compholio)

Is wow 32 ou 64 bits?
In case it is 32 bits try:

Code: Select all

export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-wow WINEARCH=win32
cd path_to_wow_installed/
wine wow_installer.exe
On Wow AppDB Wine page, user Nevin was complaining about Audio glitch since 6.0.2.

It might be due to the PulseAudio sampling rate. You could try adjusting it to see if it helps. See my blog post for details: Audio in Linux becomes annoying again (continued).
