I have a brother network scanner/printer and it worked perfectly right out of the box. Brother has always seemed to have great linux support.

Another vote for Brother printer. Had problem installing a Canon printer in the past.

I have a wireless Canon Pixma MX925 4 in 1 multifunction Ink printer.
It is supported well including duplex printing (dual sided, e.g. by LibreOffice).
You can also buy very cheap non original substitution ink tanks (about 1.20 Euros per ink tank).

The main lack is the very low (bad?) quality of photo images on special photo papers.
Especially for the photos I use VirtualBox with a complete Windows 10, where I have installed the original Windows driver for the MX920 series. Thereout through the Sabayon host the photos become perfect.
But everything else I print, I use the Linux (Sabayon) environment for.

Maybe off topic, but is there a good Plasma program to print (almost) perfect photos of size 10x15cm?
Let me know. I already tried several, I assume it lacks of the (Guttenprint) printer driver. The original driver by Canon isn't more successful.

I have an older HP 3055 that I have had zero trouble from for many years, HP releases the drivers so it works as a networked printer flawlessly.

I used to have HP normally on the past (even at home these days I don't use it), and friends used to have Cannon. I don't know, how is these days, but at least from my past experiences if I buy a new one, I will go definitely for Cannon.

I remember two big differences:
* Ink looks more durable
* The mechanical parts look more reliable (don't break, or stop working randomly)
