Well I can see what he is saying, but it all depends on what you want your machine to do. If I want to run a web server, I want it to be linux. If I want to play latest and greatest games, gonna want it to be windows.

I received a gift of Apple Nano music player. I could not install MP3 files on this or do anything useful from a Linux computer. That is the way of Apple products which force you to use only what Apple wants to provide.

They provide comfort and certainty to those who give up their freedom.

Been through a similar problem. Use media-sound/soundkonverter-2.1.2 to convert most any format to .aac at the appropriate bitrate (smaller iPods won't handle anything above 128kbps) and copy them over and you're all set.

Good luck!
