make sabayon more modular os

Postby godane » Tue Aug 07, 2007 16:13

I was think of making sabayon more modular to speed up development, bug fixes, and updates. This will make it more easier then before to make spinoffs like the cd edition.

I think sabayon is to big to go any other way then a modular file system os. Slax 6 rc 6 uses squashfs+lzma and aufs. Aufs is used as a replace mean to Unionfs. Its a lot more stable. Squashfs+lzma is squashfs with 30% more compression. That adds another cd to your dvd.

I hope this will help you guys in the development of sabayon 3.5.

ps With slax 6rc6 you can add modules on the fly and also remove modules not in being used on the fly. :D
