Magic sysrequest keys?

Post by Ron.W » Mon Jun 18, 2007 0:21

Hello people,

I wander whether sabayonlinux has compiled in support for the "magic sysrq keys" mentioned here: http://www.developertutorials.com/tutor ... page1.html

Which key would be the "magic" key? I didn't find any, but maybe I simply didn't find it since this is a notebook rather than a standard keyboard...

If it isn't in sabayon until now, I believe it would be a great idea to implement this feature, since it looks to me like something really useful for troubleshooting.

Thanks for moving this, Wolfden. So magic sysrq is actually not in Sabayon yet. I thought, I hadn't tried the correct keys on the notebook only.

If you are going to implement this feature in future, I think it would be great to make it optional via kerneloption ("cheatcode") in the bootloader-config at boottime (e.g. magicsysrq=on), so one can choose whether it is enabled or not by simply editing the line in menu.lst, since it is not always desirable to have these keys activated.
