Something I've been working on

Postby txemijendrix » Fri Mar 09, 2007 12:39

Hi.
I've been working in a different logo for sabayon.
Some people say that they don't like the hen foot logo, but I haven't seen alternative designs for the logo (except for Izo).
Yesterday I tried something different and I wanted to share it with you to get some opinions and criticisms.
I've tried to include some concepts in the logo:
- The egg yolk (well, the whole egg, but the yolk has more detail)
- The hen itself. The colors (black, white and orange-gold) make it look as a linux hen (or a penguin hen if you like). The red for the comb and the wattles are just because sabayon was red when I discovered it and fits well.

Image

As I said before, I did it yesterday so it's only a work in progress, a first sketch.
Any comments?

It's a lovely image, txemijendrix, but I too don't like the whole "Chicken/Hen" thing. Sabayon, to me, is classy, smart, modern and sexy and chickens just DON'T convey that image.

Nevertheless, the image is very nice. I just don't like associating something as sexy and sweet as Sabayon with a chicken. :)

I *had* a dream :))

Postby terlmann » Sat Mar 10, 2007 4:11

I had a daydream yesterday... what about morphing a chicken foot and a penguin foot ?
perhaps with the ankle of a cow , for gentoo ? ehehe
but seriously , one toe of a chicken - stuck into a penguin flapper, the cute yellow kind
you see tux has.weird , but try to visualize it. add a few effects even. morph them somehow.
anything is possible.

txemijendrix I like your logo, but I think it's a bit too much complicated... too many things.
I think you should work more with the egg and yolk idea without the hen around.
Try developing it more.

By the way sabayon is made with eggs... we should try also doing it with penguin eggs! why not.
I think people should focus more on the egg instead of the animal who made it.

Yeah the whole "chicken" thing is not very professional looking. I think it is a great image you made but it really doesn't suit Sabayon. So far 3.3 has the best overall look, and I don't feel as it should get too far away from the hen foot, IMO. The only other thing I can think of is maybe a desert glass, kind of like what wine uses. I don't know though.
Keep up the good work though!
