Razertool Ebuild

Postby onlyoneskwalla » Wed Feb 21, 2007 17:16

Just came across an ebuild for Razertool, a gui config/firmware program for the Razer Copperhead Laser mouse(possibly other razer mice), dunno if anyone else uses this mouse but maybe you could put it in the overlay. It's posted on a gentoo bug page here, think it's kind of an orphan.

Hallo.
I tried to download and install the ebuild, but it seems to be only an attachement.
How can i install this razertool?

Hi.
I tried to follow the HowTo, but i get the same error like before.

Code: Select all
localhost sys-apps #  ebuild razertool.ebuild digest
!!! portage/razertool does not follow correct package syntax.

I think those attachments are no ebuilds.
Did you had a view on it?

Are you using the razertool-0.0.7 ebuild? it passes the digest phase here (I have not tried to compile it).

Tell what you have done at least, it's hard to guess.
I think you've messed up the structure of your local overlay or something like that... I see you've put the ebuild directly in 'sys-apps' directory, but it should reside in a directory called 'razertool' which in turn should be in 'sys-apps' directory. Moreover that ebuild should have a correct number appended to it as in the original attachment on the bugzilla.

Hallo,
i tell you what i tried:

first edit
/etc/ make.conf: PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"

i downloaded the following attachment: http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=110233
i saved is as "razertool.ebuild" ans put it in
/usr/local/src/portage/sys-apps/razertool/

then i tried (as root):
localhost razertool # ebuild /usr/local/portage/sys-apps/razertool/razertool.ebuild digest
!!! sys-apps/razertool does not follow correct package syntax.
localhost razertool #

where is my fault?

now i got it!

it was
apps-misc
not
sys-apps

worked perfect, but i do not understand why a high dpi makes the mouse so (too) fast.
i have to decrease to 800 dpi from 1600 possible dpi!

bye
