I use the 3D editor http://www.blender.org alot (its free and open sourced) and one of its features is to import GIMP's http://www.gimp.org native .xcf pics
However it needs "xcftools" to work
http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Multimed ... 7487.shtml

can we get a pacage of this for equo or rigio?
I tried to install the sources from the above link but it kept telling me I didn't have an acceptable gcc.
If you use Blender alot it certainly is a nice feature.

Sorry if we have that package somewhere and I'm to new to have found it.. but if so Please tell me :)
Thanks

It is not available in Portage, but in another overlay. I'm not that familiar with portage, so you'll have to wait for another one to describe the steps to take. Maybe you can fill a package request and hope, that someone will add it to entropy ;-)
For the future: If you don't find a package, query a web search engine for your packagename+Gentoo.
Most the time, you'll find some results ;)

It's been a while, but it should be easy to try out as

Code: Select all

#layman -a stuff
#layman -S
#emerge --sync
#emerge media-gfx/xcftools
Those commands will
1) Add the overlay "stuff"
2) Sync all overlays
3) Sync with the main portage tree
4) Download, compile, and if successful install xcftools

Note: emerge --sync will probably take a long time if it's the first time you've run it.
