Hello all :D

We here are SabayonLinux like to lead the pack in customized art for our distro and stunning presentations that people see when they boot up the livedvd/cd. As such, we are looking to expand this group with art oriented people that have what it takes to keep up the high standards,

Please post here your background, experience, link to a portfolio, and your email/jabber accounts.

All people contacted will be put on the "dev-in-training" list until they are accepted as full developers and will be given email and jabber accounts.

I hope to work with you all soon :)

All post will be reviewed by Art Coordinator SquareBottle. We are currently looking for another very experienced person to co-coordinate this group who is efficient.

I'm a commercial advertising photographer, but I also do fine art and action sports. Clients include Bianchi International, 3Com, Intrepid cycles, Sony, Reebox, Splenda, Safariland, Gregory Mountain Products, Bodger Seeds, etc. I also contribute to the desktop wallpaper site ... cat&page=1

I have a new website that I'm still uploading to.

Hey, Surfcat! Glad to see that you're interested.

I can definitely see a professional photographer being an asset to the art team, especially with a resume like that. What did you do for those companies specifically? Can you link us to pages on their sites with your work on it, please? I'd really like to take a look. I checked out your own web sites, too, and I was definitely impressed by some of your work (heh, gotta love "Script Kitty").

On weekdays, I typically get online at about 3:00 or 4:00 PST, but I'm online quite a bit in general really. The next time you're on jabber, why don't you say hello?

Cool beans. Yeah, just email them to me when you're done.

For anybody else who is interested, please post here just so I can see everybody's name in one place. Then, email me a few samples of your work, and then I'll email you back a "test image" to play with to get an even better feel for your style and capabilities as an artist. ;)

Hey, I've already talked to square bottle about the position, I'm here to link to some work I've done and just to give you a little info about who I am.

That's my port, now somethings about me.

I've been an avid linux user for about two years, I started with redhat 9, moved to fedora core 2, then fedora 3, 4, 5, and 6, those were my mainstay distros, the ones I knew/liked best. I was fairly conservative, however I played with knoppix, slax, slackware, and an assortment of other ones. I finally stumbled upon an xgl distro called kororra, I immediately implimented it into FC5, which was a pain, however worth it when I could do everything I saw on those lovely videos. I came upon sabayon when Squarebottle showed me 3.1, it was the first full install that gave me XGL without the hassle. I had been using compiz, beryl was new but nice, and I finally fell in love with a new distro since Fedora core.

I took a course which was esentially the equivalent of 6 years of photoshop. I learned some other programs but the emphasis was Illustrator and Photoshop, I'm still learning gimp, and for the time being I'm going to be stuck on a windows machine, once Sabayon supports Raid 0, or until I free up some hd space on my extra drive I'll be running sabayon on the side. The main reason I don't use linux all the time, is because I'm an avid music lover, I bought a soundblaster x-fi card, and I don't believe on onboard sound :P.

I met Square bottle in this class, we were pretty astranged until the 2nd year. Since we've become pretty good friends and have quite a bit in common. I introduced him to linux, via an ubuntu cd I had recieved from their distrobution program. He fell in love with it, and ever since he's been out and about trying ever distro until he stumbled up on this one, which he's had incredible affection for ever since. I'd love to be an art developer for this particular distro. I can't do gui's or any programing, I do backgrounds best and I do most of my work with people and pictures of them, but I'd love to give back to the linux community in the way it has given to me.

I'd be interested in contributing to the Art Team. :)

You can see my DeviantART page;
Here is my Ubuntu Forums Gallery, when I was using Ubuntu.

I switched to Ubuntu Linux from Windows in Nov' 2006. Since then, I've spent a lot of my spare time readjusting my knowledge from Photoshop to GIMP and Inkscape, and I think that I'm quite comfortable now.

I'd love to contribute to this great Distro.
