in the XFCE, the new versions, shown the Rat screenshot, and then closes the session, logout, without open[/color]
We may have to create some SVN snapshops for LXDE, tho imo its not in a useable state, as for xfce, try deleting ~.xfce

  Inevitable, I suppose, but I'm sorry to lose KDE 3.5 (which I really like) as I just don't like KDE 4, try as I might. As I don't like GNOME either I think I'm going to have to start looking for another desktop environment.

 How about shipping SL 4.1 with E17 if you're dropping KDE 3.5, then?

I doubt if these are all genuine bugs but they are irritants:

At the end of a kernel update, using Entropy, the option of automerge in equo conf update for /etc/conf.d/modules doesn't "merge" the files, just replaces the existing "modules" with a new one so it's necessary to edit it again for things like vboxdrv.

The hostname issue was driving me crazy but that appears to have been addressed.

I'm using KDE 4.2.1 on a fully updated system and can never be sure that my sound is going to work properly. There tends to be a notification that my HDA intel (ALC888 Analog) isn't working so the system is falling back to PulseAudio but if I select PulseAudio as the preferred device very little works in the way of sound. I could go on about sound issues in KDE 4.2.1 but am assuming that it's one of the irritants of using a very new GUI.

The biggest bug of all is me! (failing to notice things properly) :)

we want to keep the mini-dvd to a min, the idea is to use entropy to add beyond that.

Gnome-minidvd
KDE-minidvd
Corecd

You could always do the fluxbox and add e17, I don't even know if e17 is in entropy at the moment tho. It will be interesting to see what people say tho with no 3.5.x KDE 4.2.2 isn't that bad once u sit down with with it and use it for a while. It slowly grew on me.

I've tried it for a while (even with other distros such as Mandriva 2009.1 and Open SUSE 11.1). Yes I can use it, but I just don't like the ergonomics. And the look of it reminds me too much of Vista, which is another pain to use. I'm sticking to 3.5.10 at the moment and am going to try some other desktop environments on another of my PCs until I can settle on one that I like.

I agree with your sentiments about kde4 and gnome. As I see it, kde4 is focused on the demands of the less experienced 'buntu users and is driven by devs who have migrated from gnome, making kde4 the gnome they always dreamed of. I said so on the kde forum some time ago. As for e17, I've been considering giving it a try. The disappointing aspect is it has been under development for years and still not a final release.

I liked Sabayon until it switched to Rigo and becoming the gentoo equivalent of Ubuntu. Extreme browsing? Extreme gaming? Extreme work? Extreme development? Like, totally gnarly, dude!

E17 will be added to entropy AFTER we release the 4.1 isos.

FitzCarraldo, i installed E17 in my comps.
I have in mind that is not in Entropy, at this moment, neither in Portage.
But it is in the Enlightenment Overlay
Are some manners to install E17. In different comps, i used two of these manners, and they works.
Below are the links of the two methods that I use to install E17:

http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php? ... nstall_e17

Do you read Italian? If this, see:

http://www.sabayonmania-forum.com/searc ... ightenment

For a while, it is possible that KDE 3.5 wiil be disponible for some time, in the Portage and in the Entropy (associated with the SL 3.5 Branch).
Except in Gentoo,in witch i only have light graphical interfaces (XFCE,LXDE and Fluxbox) in the other comps., i have all the graphical environments and window managers, because i like all and use all.

The most annoying bug I can think of is my optical drives not being listed in /etc/fstab. This makes it difficult to use Wine and other optical-drive-using programs. Currently I have to manually add them in and also make the appropriate folders for them so they can be mounted.
