it don't sound like a video card problem if that is only problem. Do: USE="gtk quicktime divx gmedia realmedia wmp win32codecs nsplugins firefox xvid" emerge mplayerplug-in and emerge -u mozilla-firefox that should do it. OK did this BUT.... After typing in the cmd lines you told me to...I GET.... ...

Could be the video card driver that is not properly installed or running / mis-configured. Sound run " alsaconf " to configure it. As root in tenrminal: # su passwd: root # glxgears It should give you a reasonable amount depending on your card likely 5000fps or more. If nasty 900fps then driver nee...
