Re: Authentication Failed... [Solved]

I don't know if this is the same problem mentioned here or not. On my system (which is all portage updated), I ran into similar login and screensaver wake-up issues. The Login took forever, and usually timed-out. I noticed that my Internet gateway had gone down. I found my login authentications went...

Re: emerging entire system with newuse

To unmask the rc versions of portage, I have in /etc/portage/package.keywords:

Code: Select all

<sys-apps/portage-2.3 **
and in /etc/portage/package.unmask:

Code: Select all

<sys-apps/portage-2.3
It was a recent change in the ebuild that made me add the "**" in the keywords file.

Re: KGRUB Problem

Any text editor will work, but you need to edit the file as the 'root' user.

Re: Questions regarding the functional design of Grub2

Thank for doing all this research on Grub2. I've also noticed it's hard to find good references on Grub2. I'm still totally unsatisfied with the tools provided for customizing your boot menu. I've haven't really found any other method than editing the grub.cfg file that loudly proclaims: "# DO NOT E...

Re: How to install a CUPS driver that depends on LSB >=3.2

I think you may be going down the wrong path with looking for a LSB problem. The problem is that your computer has zero packages installed as far a rpm is concerned, so it will be a rare rpm package that installs cleanly using "rpm -ivh <package>". Can you provide more information on why cups is fai...

Re: install e17

Then you can do 'equo install --ask @e17', and see the packages that would be installed.

Re: Cannot install Kompozer in Sabayon [Solved]

Based on the feedback in the topic, we've updated the eclass used by app-editors/kompozer-0.8_beta3 in the Sabayon overlay.

You should now be able to build this package straight-up from the Sabayon overlay, and Joost is working on an Entropy package.

Both RAID and LVM need a separate boot partition formated with something more mundane like ext2/3/4.

Re: XDM doesn't start KDM

Good catch!

Can you give us some background on your installation?

Is it a fresh installation, or one you've been maintaining with entropy for a while? Or perhaps something else?

Entropy seems to update grub when a new grub is installed, but it doesn't seem like it should add the nox boot option.

Re: Poor performance (unresponsive, pausing, stuttering etc.

DontPanic , how did you get on with the Mathieu Desnoyers patches? Any noticeable difference? I've had them installed on two machines for about two weeks now. I haven't really noticed any difference with them activated. The "vmscan: raise the bar to PAGEOUT_IO_SYNC stalls" patch gave me a much more...
