Re: Lazarus IDE cannot be initialized

lazarus is in our repository. Install it using either entropy (sulfur/equo) or portage (emerge) and you should find it working without flaws.

Re: Can't ping a Sabayon box

can you access the boxes via any other methods? Do you have ssh, ftp, nfs, or any other services enabled? If you cannot access via these protocols, then there may very well be something wrong with your firewall configuration. On a related note, it is a different setting to permit pings to the firewa...

Re: ATI Radeon 4650 blank screen using DVI

I'm going to go ahead and say yes, as it appears that we have no relevant USE flags to turn on or off, and I know that the packages themselves have support for it. So yes, kms should work fine with the current package configurations in entropy, once you've updated your kernel.

Re: ATI Radeon 4650 blank screen using DVI

right, my 'pologies - I wasn't sure whether you were referring to xf86-video-ati or xf86-video-radeonhd when you said "radeon" driver; the xf86-video-ati is indeed keyworded as radeon in xorg.conf fglrx may or may not support xrandr - I don't have dualscreens to test, but I'm sure google knows somet...

Re: ATI Radeon 4650 blank screen using DVI

Interesting... this sounds like we probably have a bug in the port driver then.

Or it's kde being odd, though this appears less and less likely.

If either of you are up for recompiling your kernels, let me know - we have an adventure to embark upon!

Re: ATI Radeon 4650 blank screen using DVI

I'd agree with you on the driver issues.
xf86-video-ati actually gives the best 3D acceleration experience I've had in quite some time.
I'm not sure about fglrx - it's not terribly well-liked as a driver, but until recently was by far the best choice for performance out there.

Re: Encrypted volume in Five Oh! KDE

this FM should apply:
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/DM-Crypt_with_LUKS
we don't seem to have any Sabayon-specific information on LUKS; however we maintain full and complete compatibility with gentoo, so any and all guidelines issued here will work in Sabayon.

Re: ATI Radeon 4650 blank screen using DVI

now kde4 has some interesting opinions on how display should be handled - it often takes it upon itself to change the resolutions and configurations of your x server without restarting it or writing to xorg.conf, so this could be part of your problem. Easy way to check is to install gdm (which has n...

Re: cannot log in Sabayon

it sounds like you've got a little bit of filesystem corruption on your disk there. As for fsck, the usage of it with lvm partitions is the same as the usage of it without them; as a basic example fsck.ext4 /dev/LV/lvol0 would fsck one of my lvms. the path to your lvms may be different - make sure t...
