SL13.04amd64xfce|sony hi def monitor: out of range?[Solved]

I've been using Sabayon as one of several installed Linux on two computers for a while now. The installation on my HP Pavilion desktop with an amd64 athlon processor and {unfortunately} built in nvidia GeForce 6150 LE graphics didn't survive the last equo upgrade... So I decided to replace it with a...

Re: equo upgrade: now root partition not block device???

Why are you copying the files, you can use /boot from sabayon part. I would have thought it was obvious that if I normally use a seperate {stand alone?} grub menu that Sabayon doesn't get to update then I would need to copy those files whenever Sabayon updated the ones in it's /boot folder... I pre...

equo upgrade: now root partition not block device???

Hello, I multi boot several Linux and so don't spend all my time with any one of them. I had been trying to debug something with SnowLinux on my desktop system so there were probably a couple of months between the last time I ran equo on my desktop's Sabayon installation. But yesterday I had some ti...

Re: packages no longer in repo: how to avoid auto-removal?

Yess dunsurfin has captured my exact concern. It's not uncommon for there to be a list of packages. I have two Sabayon installations. I lost emprint on one of them just that way. I had to rewrite my screen capture scripts to use import from the ImageMagick suite, for it, but it doesn't do as good a ...

packages no longer in repo: how to avoid auto-removal?

When I do an: equo update equo upgrade equo has for a long time wanted me to let it remove emprint, which I use, a lot. I'd have to be sleeping at the switch not to remember to only let the removal of packages no longer found in the repo only on a selective basis. I tried masking emprint, but while ...

Re: I 'THINK' this is a udev problem?

Looks like udev is having trouble loading a module. Have a read through the thread Long pause at 'Waiting for uevents to be processed' [Solved] for the method of investigating and find the module that is causing the problem. OK so there were two problems... the nvidia driver wasn't loading. I could...

I 'THINK' this is a udev problem?[Solved]

I just did a somewhat belated "equo update && equo upgrade --ask", I've been having trouble getting time to play with my desktop PC lately, so this is the first time I've updated my desktop's Sabayon since just before Thanksgiving. Though I have been getting around to updating my laptop a bit more o...

Re: equo upgrade. peek at /boot NO kernel at all?

the right command is grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg Thanks, I'll try it... By the way, is it normal that the rest of the assorted files grub2 keeps in /boot/grub should be much **older??? ---------snip--------- Does it look like I've got all the files grub2 needs?? OK it looks like I do... A...

Re: equo upgrade. peek at /boot NO kernel at all?

"rm *" will remove all files not direcrories. to remove directories run : rm -rf * (very dangerous !!) Which is exactly why I used it to describe what my /boot directory looked like after the equo upgrade... That is to say that until I used equo to install the linux-sabayon-3.5-r7 package, my /boot...
