Re: has the "nox" bootparam been depreciated?

How about gentoo=nox ? I did try that by the way, and it made no difference. On those occasions when tty1 didn't clear the screen of any remaining boot-up messages I still saw that reached graphical target message... but more often then not the screen gets cleared and there isn't anything to see wi...

Re: How can I completely reset an existing users xfce config

Hi Joe3! I didn't read the entire post but to quickly answer how to mimic the behaviour that resets the system default for a user, here is how it works. We ship all homedir default settings in /etc/skel This much I knew... If you make a new user and the homedir gets created it copies all the files ...

What's secret to getting GPM running on consoles?[Solved]

I've got a newly installed copy of Sabayon_Linux_13.04_amd64_Xfce.iso. And I can start a volatile GPM session with: # gpm -m /dev/input/mice -t ps2 It works like a charm, but it's a PITA to always have to type it into a "root" command shell. So I checked that /dev/input/mice & ps2 were uncommented i...

How can I completely reset an existing users xfce config?

OK I've got a problem with starting xfce for my regular user on my newly installed copy of Sabayon_Linux_13.04_amd64_Xfce.iso... Is there a way to FORCE xfce to treat my user account as a new account and set me up with a default desktop??? I'm a dedicated startx user but I don't think that's the pro...

Re: has the "nox" bootparam been depreciated?

You may want to change the default target from graphical.target to multi-user.target See the systemd documentation for more info. YES I would love to do that. But I've just spent a xouple hours attempting to understand the man documents Then searched the wiki for systemd : http://i41.tinypic.com/34...

Re: has the "nox" bootparam been depreciated?

How about gentoo=nox ? Not sure... In the mean time it turns out that lightdm was still installed. But had simply had a fluke like failure to properly initialize so that it didn't prevent a startx initialized Xorg from opining an X server... When I booted up in the morning lightdm did initialize. I...

Re: SL13.04amd64xfce|sony hi def monitor: out of range?

Well the install did finally complete. Though every time it needed to do anything that could be done with gparted it took several hours between each "click" for the results to appear. could it be that running the live session itself uses up most of the "1GB" of ram leaving little room to process any...

has the "nox" bootparam been depreciated? [Solved]

I have finally succeeded in completing a difficult re-installation of Sabayon on my desktop PC. I have reason to believe that my built-in Nvidia won't play well with nouveau. So I would be booting with the nox option until I've installed the nvidia driver. But it still goes directly to the black scr...

Re: SL13.04amd64xfce|sony hi def monitor: out of range?

I don't have any idea why the installer-gui {as well as any attempt to run a graphical live session} would insist on starting with a video resolution higher than 1280x1024 ?? But that is exactly what my sony monitor's error pop-up reports: http://i44.tinypic.com/4huk47.jpg right after the live syste...
