Re: XDelta: da Sabayon 3.4a a 3.4e senza l'iso originale

If I understand your problem (I used Google Translate)... If you still have 3.4a disc, you could get the iso from it. I don't know what program you would use for that... Trying to create the iso from the files will not work, as you need everything in the exact same place, and things like boot sector...

Re: Sabayon Linux x86/x86-64 3.4 Revision F: Stable Release

Hmm... It was a bad idea to post the xdelta so early. I just made a 169MB xdelta that doesn't even need splitting the iso. Yep, that's for the DVD version, x86, 3.4e-to-3.4f. I better experiment more before posting again.

Re: Sabayon Linux x86/x86-64 3.4 Revision F: Stable Release

I know there are xdeltas available already. But mine are 38% smaller and use only 80MB of RAM while patching. Last time I tried an xdelta provided by the mirrors, I had to kill the process when it reached 600MB of usage (I had only 512MB physical memory at the time). You need a different version of ...

Re: Sabayon Linux x86/x86-64 3.4 Revision F: Stable Release

I have created xdelta3s from 3.4e to 3.4f (x86 only, I'll do x86_64 only if people ask for 'em). 235MB, compared to 379MB of the xdelta1s officially provided. And doesn't need insane amounts of RAM to patch (~80MB). I'll post here again once I finish uploading them.

Re: Automate mirror usage and checksums for ISO downloads

I have metalinks of the newer 3.4 miniEditions at http://impfarm.imp.org/~nico/sabayon/ (the "http-only" metalink was to test a download manager bug).

I'll see if I can add chunk checksums later.

Re: Sabayon Linux 3.4 x86/x86-64 miniEdition: Press Release

If you have a download manager that supports metalinks (like aria2 http://aria2.sourceforge.net/), try these: http://impfarm.imp.org/~nico/sabayon/ Example with aria2: $ aria2c -M http://impfarm.imp.org/~nico/sabayon/SabayonLinux-x86-3.4.miniEdition.iso.metalink You can also download the .metalink a...

For .ISO distribution, replace the xdelta1 patches with xdelta3 patches. Xdelta3 supports files > 2GB so it doesn't need splitting, produces slightly smaller patches, takes less time to apply the patch, needs waaay less memory to patch. And less HDD space too because you don't need the temporary fil...
