Re: Is anyone using Sabayon with a Radeon X1950 PRO?

I didn't realise about the AIGLX issue, so that has tipped things back in favour of the 7900GS.

Is anyone using Sabayon with a Radeon X1950 PRO?

I am considering upgrading my graphics card and the front runners at the moment are the X1950 Pro and the GeForce 7900GS. The Radeon seems to have a better performance but I am assuming the 7900GS will be more 'Linux friendly'?

Re: Dual booting

Well Thank you Fitzcarraldo, I looked through some of the links and I am figuring it might take me a week or two to make sense of all this. I installed Sabayon as a dual boot on a Windows ME PC yesterday. My procedure was as follows: Boot into live CD Use Gparted on the Live CD to create a new part...

Re: How long should it take to emerge OpenOffice?

It seems to have emerged OK but I will follow your advice next time. I don't know how long it actually took as I went to bed, but it was at least four hours!

Re: Off topic? Ktorrent and Firefox close unexpectedly.

Are there any other clients that will work apart from Bittorent or Azureus? I don't trust Bittorent these days, & as was previously stated Azureus has become bloated & over complex for my needs. Zenwalk used to come with Transmission (http://transmission.m0k.org/) which I really liked, though a lot...

How long should it take to emerge OpenOffice?

I have installed 3.4 mini which doesn't include OpenOffice. I am emerging it via Portato and it has been at it for about three hours! Is this normal? :?:

Re: Is Sabayon going to remain Gentoo/Portage based ?

As a newb here I may not be where I should be, but this 'portage' package manager is a total mystery. Any help from anyone would be great. I'm strickly a GUI type of guy, so editing files and stuff won't fly. I'd like be able to install some stuff.. Many thanks:-) As Wolfden suggests, your first st...
