Re: Package Management System Time Machine AKA I have a Dream

I think this would be a great idea, but there are some issues popping in my head. First determining the 'previous working situation' would be very hard, maybe impossible. Lets say I world update my system and the situation before the update is choosen as 'the previous working situation'. The update ...

Re: noob installing sabayon in VBox needs help

Open sulfur and look for the following packages: linux-headers-2.6.29 -> Linux system headers linux-sabayon-2.6.29 -> Official Sabayon Linux Standard kernel image and source sabayon-sources-2.6.29 -> Official Sabayon Linux Standard kernel sources I'm not sure you need them all, but these packages co...

Re: How to instal Sabayon 4.2 KDE x64 on a windows partition

Do you mean to say that wubi takes care of defragmenting your hard drive, shrinks the windows partition if needed and makes a new partition to install Ubuntu on? According to me wubi does the following: It installs Ubuntu on the users harddrive in a folder specified by the user as if it was a norma...

Re: getting 5.1 sound

If you open 'paman' you can see the available sinks under the devices tab. If I go there I have one sink. If I select it and click the properties button I get extra information. There are 2 things that I think have to do with surround sound. Sample Type: s16le 6ch 44100Hz Channel Map: front-left,fro...

Re: getting 5.1 sound

Re: getting 5.1 sound

Do you get any sound with pulseaudio or nothing? Maybe you have more than 1 sound device in your system and pulseaudio is using the wrong one. You could try playing with 'padevchooser', this should let you configure which devices/sinks pulseaudio should use. Pulseaudio is even able to send the sound...

Re: ATI drivers < 9.6 for 2.6.29

Good to know that the performance of the open-source driver can be improved. Once you're finished experimenting I will try the open-source driver with the tweaks. If performance is good I will be glad to stick with it, as I'm currently afraid that sooner or later a kernel update will break the legac...

Re: getting 5.1 sound

Ok, Now you should be able to configure it. From your screenshots all looks good. I will try to explain what you need to do, by explaining what each 'tab' means. I will loop through you screenshot from left to right and top to bottom. The first window 'Playback': These are the input sources, the app...

Re: Default CD/DVD burner?

My guess is that it is not included in 4.1 and 4.2 KDE as the KDE4 port of K3B is still in alpha. I'm pretty sure there is still some functionality that won't work correctly... I only used it to burn an iso, which worked correctly. Using a Video DVD project with VIDEO_TS folder failed for me. So for...

Re: getting 5.1 sound

NOTE ON LFE CHANNEL --------------------------- In new versions of PulseAudio they don’t synthesize an LFE signal anymore by default. They introduced this new option called disable-lfe-remixing. When upmixing or downmixing ignore LFE channels. When this option is on the output LFE channel will only...
