NetworkManager key not saved

After rebooting I need to reenter the WiFi key. It should be saved but it isn't. Where can I get more info on NetworkManager to find out why it isn't saving the key after rebooting and check the permissions on the file that stores the info? I've found some bugs mentioned in my searches but couldn't ...

Easy sandbox method? - chroot, user, apparmor etc?

Ideally I would like to just run a command that does it all for me, passing the binary I want to run through that, like: "sandbox firefox" The other ways are hassle: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Skype#Use_Skype_with_special_user http://mancoosi.org/~abate/running-skype-a-schroot Easy on Wind...

Which game to test graphics?

Which game would you recommend as best for quick testing? It should be: - very reliable - open source so we all know it well - small download so quick for testing - 3D but shows a wide range of hardware performance I think a game communicates better than a benchmark for people. Less technical people...

Re: Reducing the 3 passwords to login

Can I get grub to pass a password to the HDD so I don't have to wait for the HDD pass to come up?

Reducing the 3 passwords to login

1) Password or at least, O/S selection at Grub menu

2) Password for HDD encryption

3) Password to logon.

What I really want is just one password to login. Ideally I'd like to pass this at the Grub stage so I can walk away and come back with it ready to use. But how can I do that?

ACPI Suspend for server

I'm using an old ~1ghz system as a low use server. I've already replaced the heatsink for something fanless and set the hdparm shutdown to 15mins. This is more to protect the hardware than save energy. The thing is, the HD running the root partition just gets woken up again. This is an old system so...

Verifying a package is legit [Solved]

http://packages.sabayon.org/show/bitcoind,83851,sabayon-weekly,x86,5,standard/download#package-widget-show-what Here we have the Bitcoin page. First, where are the downloaded packages cached to do a md5sum? Second, what's the sha356 command? That's the basics. But next, how do I know someone hasn't ...

Re: New laptop install, observations and fixing stuff

It was a HDD problem. Now running fully off USB (!). I thought I'd use it a bit more before blanking it all and downloading the LXDE iso. I found: [email protected] ~ $ sudo mythtv-setup Passcode 6F [1]: Password: mythtv-setup: error while loading shared libraries: libfribidi.so.0: cannot open shared object...

Re: New laptop install, observations and fixing stuff

Thanks! I hadn't noticed that so I will give it a go when I can.

It turns out other linux installers are also freezing on the hard drive partitioning so I think this could be a hardware problem.

New laptop install, observations and fixing stuff

I'm writing this because perhaps you know an easier way to fix these problems. I've been running Sabayon on my server really well for a while now so after losing patience with Ubuntu I thought I'd change to Sabayon on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop too. The reasons for this were: - I've used Gentoo in t...
