Ah, I added most of those on my own, guess that's why I haven't noticed. Thanks!

Re: Complete Newb Recommendations?

One question I have in the 64 vs. 32 bit debate: is there any advantage in compile times using 64 bit? I would think that something as CPU intensive as portage emerges would definitely benefit from 64 bit, but haven't seen any evidence. I always use 64 bit so I haven't been able to compare myself.

Re: Complete Newb Recommendations?

I'd actually go a step further and recommend you skip using RAID 0 at all. Real world benchmarks show little to no performance improvement using RAID 0, and you double the chance of losing at your data while adding further complication to your setup.

Okay, the edit buttons showed up, did you just change something? When I clicked to edit the post "Disable BBCode" and "Disable smiles" were checked...

Two more bugs:

BBCode is off for me (It's enabled in my profile)
Can no longer edit my own posts (hence this double post, sorry)

Re: phpBB 3.0 update in progress

The "last visited" time doesn't seem to be working. It says my last visit was Saturday, when I've been to the site many times since then. Also the "view posts since last visit" is missing, maybe replaced by "view new posts" which I'm not sure is the same thing. Maybe it is, but since the last visit ...

I also needed to check for pam_stack and fix according to the instructions from the Gentoo link:

Code: Select all

grep pam_stack /etc/pam.d/*
