Account missing needed files to run properly

I'm using Sabayon 4.1 x86 Kde in a virtual machine. I noticed that the root account is missing quite a few directories and files. Is there an easy way to repopulate the /root folder with all the files it needs. I've seen the /etc/skel directory which is a skeleton of a user's directory. Would it be ...

Re: root login in x

Well I have a partial work around. I removed xdm and X-setup from the boot runlevel. This allows root to log into xfce but fluxbox and kde both give errors when you try to start them. I get both these errors as root and my user from the command prompt. kde's error is: $Display is not set or cannot c...

Re: root login in x

I appreciate the advice and thank you for it but it's an option I like having. What is actually blocking root logging in kdm or something else. I could drop sabayon to a different run level and boot to a command prompt.

Re: root login in x

Yes I know I shouldn't log into the desktop as root but sometimes I find it easier.

Still having problems logging into the root desktop

Okay I've edited kdemrc and changed AllowRootLogin= to true, when I enter root and my root password the screen blinks and then displays the login manager again, no desktop.

Is there something else that has to be changed?

Ignore unneeded localization updates in Sulfur [Solved]

Is there a way to get sulfur to ignore the localization packages for kde and openoffice? All I need are the packages for the US.

root login in x [Solved]

I've just install sabayon 4.1kde in a virtualbox vm.
How do you enable root to log in to x I've searched but all I get are responses for ubuntu. And is blocking root from logging in to X going to be a permanent change in sabayon?

New .29 kernel update [Solved]

This morning I updated to the latest 2.6.29 kernel. I'm not sure how good of a stress test it was but I seeded sabayon lite all day watched a bunch of movies online, and all the while was pinging another computer on my home network. The network connection has be rock solid the whole time. Seems like...
