It's not considered best practice running your system as root.
You can always

Code: Select all

su
to become root if needed.

Re: F-Prot or Sophos on Sabayon?

There are some other commercial offerings for Linux, f.ex. by Eset, F-Secure and Bitdefender.
But still I would prefer ClamAV.

Re: F-Prot or Sophos on Sabayon?

Just found the version for Linux by Sophos, "free", all you need is to provide your personal details and accept the EULA of course... https://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-linux.aspx Not sure if some kind of subscription is required. Also it's without any kind of supp...

Re: F-Prot or Sophos on Sabayon?

Are you sure you want to use something which is apparently not actively developed and in addition pay for it? Latest product versions: Product Version Date F-PROT Antivirus for Linux 6.2.39 January 2013 At least they offer a trial so you have the chance to try it: http://www.f-prot.com/download/trial/

Re: F-Prot or Sophos on Sabayon?

Sofos does not offer a Linux version to my knowledge. If you or your employer are willing to pay for the F-PROT Antivirus for Linux workstations , then consult any issues with their support ;) I also wonder what do you mean by real time protection? Personally I would stick with app-antivirus/clamav ...

How can I make a USB stick bootable using Sabayon? I‘ve tried going through a list of commands, which included grub-install.
What exactly would you like to accomplish?

If you have a live ISO file of a distribution it's usually enough to dd it to the USB stick.

Re: Can't use AirVPN

Try to download the Linux 64bit Portable version. Unpack, open the folder in terminal and try to run: $ sudo -u root ./eddie-ui Maybe it works this way. There's also a CLI tool available, chances are it is more reliable. You could set up OpenVPN via NetworkManager, you need the details or config fil...
